Sorry - MP3 Compressor is gone because of copyright infringement
Here is a e-mail message that Jochen Fruehauf is sending out to all
of the web pages that had mp3 compressor available.
Dear Web-Author,
This is a warning message due to a copyright infringement on your
site.
There you offer a MP3 encoder called MP3-Compressor. The author of
this program says it would be freeware. This may be true for his user
interface, but it is definitely not true for the Layer-3 ACM driver he
delivers together with his program. This driver is invisible during
installation. To read the copyright message you must select
settings-multimedia-...
The mentioned ACM driver is Fraunhofer's intellectual property and
protected by international copyright laws as well as various
international patents. Any unauthorized distribution is illegal.
Layer-3 ACM drivers can be legally obtained today from Microsoft
(Netshow uses the advanced version, www.microsoft.com) and OPTICOM
(Producer "Advanced" and Producer "Professional", www.opticom.de).
THERE IS NO OTHER LEGAL SOURCE TODAY!
Please keep in mind that software piracy leads to rising costs for
software distribution and thus to a higher price for honest customers.
We expect you to immediately react and remove the relevant
program/link from your web site.
Please take this warning serious since Fraunhofer headquarters is
currently worldwide prosecuting all kinds of copyright violation
related to the ACM codec to the maximum extent possible.
